In November, Google pushed a new update to their search results in which they will start highlighting whether or not websites are mobile friendly. In the search results, mobile friendly sites will be marked with a special tag, as seen in the image below.
If you don't know what mobile friendly (or mobile responsive) means, take a look at the webinar we recorded with TrustWorkz. Essentially, mobile responsive means that content on a website will automatically adjust to any size screen, on any device, to deliver the best user experience. If you're still not sure if your website is mobile friendly after watching the webinar, go ahead and take out your cell phone and pull up your website. How does it look? Is it easy to use? Or is it shrunk down and cluttered so that you have to pinch and zoom to do anything? If so, then it's probably not mobile friendly.
This Google update is another big reason to build a mobile friendly website. Why? First, mobile friendly websites are favored in Google search results, which means customers are more likely to find you. Google is transitioning everything to a "mobile first" mentality, and you don't want to get left behind. Plus, consumers have come to expect all websites to be mobile friendly, especially since mobile Internet usage has surpassed PC Internet usage. If you appear in a search result without the "mobile-friendly" tag as it appears above, consumers will be trained to skip your website because they'll know it will be a frustrating experience.
If your website is already mobile friendly, that's great news! You're on the right track and you're meeting consumer expectations. If your website is not mobile friendly, you may be wondering what to do next. We suggest contacting TrustWorkz. They specialize in mobile responsive design using the WordPress content management system, and they build fantastic websites. They can even provide you with a free website analysis to show how you can gain new customers.
Business owners are always searching for ways to get new customers in the door, and building a mobile friendly website is a great way to accomplish that goal.
