How FECs Can Compete with a Smarter PPC Strategy

Learn how a family entertainment center PPC strategy can use Google Ads, Meta Ads, and online booking to compete and drive measurable growth.

Running a family entertainment center in a competitive market can make digital advertising feel like a battle for attention.

You're competing with other FECs, trampoline parks, indoor playgrounds, bowling centers, arcades, and countless other ways families can spend their time and money. If you're operating with a smaller advertising budget, simply spending more than the competition probably isn't an option.

The good news? You don't necessarily need the biggest budget to compete.

How Family Entertainment Centers Can Compete with a Smarter PPC Strategy

A smarter family entertainment center PPC strategy focuses on reaching the right customers at different stages of their decision-making process and giving them an easy way to take action once you've earned their attention.

One Party Center Software customer put this approach into practice by combining Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Online Booking. Despite operating in a large metropolitan area with significant competition and a limited advertising budget, the facility increased party bookings by 24.6% year over year, and increased revenue collected through online booking by 176.9%.

Here's what other FEC owners and operators can learn from the strategy.

Competing for Customers Doesn't Have to Mean Outspending Competitors

When you're surrounded by entertainment options, increasing your advertising budget may seem like the obvious way to become more visible.

But more ad spend doesn't automatically mean better results.

A strong PPC strategy for family entertainment centers starts with understanding who you're trying to reach, what they're looking for, and where they are in the customer journey.

Someone searching Google for "kids birthday party places near me" is behaving differently from a parent scrolling through Instagram who hasn't started planning a party yet.

Both could become customers. They simply require different approaches.

For one PCS customer, this challenge was particularly important. The facility already had a PCS website and Legacy Online Booking but wanted to attract more local families and generate additional party bookings.

Two factors made that challenging:

  • The facility operates in a large metropolitan area with significant competition from other entertainment venues.
  • Its advertising budget was limited, making it especially important for every advertising dollar to produce measurable results.

Rather than trying to outspend competitors, the objective was to make the facility's existing advertising budget work harder.

Building a Smarter, Full-Funnel Advertising Strategy

PCS upgraded the facility from Legacy Online Booking to the new Party Center Software Online Booking and implemented a full-funnel advertising strategy using both Google Ads and Meta Ads.

Each piece of the strategy had a specific role:

  • Google Ads captured active demand by reaching families already searching for birthday parties, indoor entertainment, and things to do in the area.
  • Meta Ads expanded local awareness by introducing the facility to new audiences on Facebook and Instagram and creating more opportunities for families to discover and engage with the business.
  • PCS Online Booking helped convert interest into action by giving customers an easier way to view availability and complete party reservations online.

Instead of relying on one advertising channel to do everything, the strategy created multiple opportunities to reach potential customers throughout their decision-making process.

That's an important distinction for family entertainment centers with limited advertising budgets. A full-funnel strategy isn't simply about being present on more platforms. It's about giving each channel a purpose and creating a clear path from discovery → consideration → booking.

Use Google Ads to Capture Existing Demand

Google Ads can be particularly valuable when potential customers are already searching for something your facility offers.

Think about searches such as:

  • Birthday party places near me
  • Indoor activities for kids
  • Kids birthday party venues
  • Family entertainment near me
  • Indoor playground near me

These searches can signal that someone already has a need and is actively evaluating their options.

That makes Google Ads an important part of family entertainment center PPC because it can position your business in front of potential guests at the moment they're looking for an experience.

For this PCS customer, Google Ads generated:

  • 3,450 website visits
  • 195 requests for directions
  • 26 phone calls
  • 12 confirmed party bookings

These results show why high-intent search traffic can be valuable to an entertainment business. The goal wasn't simply to generate more clicks. It was to reach potential customers who were actively looking for something the facility offered.

Make High-Intent Clicks Count

Getting someone to click your ad is only the first step.

If your advertisement promotes birthday parties but sends visitors to a generic homepage where they have to search for party information, you're introducing unnecessary friction.

The landing experience should match the customer's intent.

If you're advertising parties, direct visitors toward useful party information. Make packages easy to understand, include clear calls-to-action, and give customers an obvious way to check availability or begin booking.

Your PPC campaign gets the customer through the door digitally. Your website and booking experience have to help them continue.

Use Meta Ads to Build Awareness and Expand Your Reach

Not every future customer is actively searching Google today.

A parent scrolling Facebook or Instagram may not be planning a birthday party at that moment. But an ad showing a great party experience, attraction, seasonal event, or family outing can introduce your facility before that customer begins actively searching.

That's where Meta Ads can serve a different purpose within your strategy.

For this PCS customer, Meta Ads generated:

  • 6,900 website visits
  • 44 confirmed party bookings
  • 76 new Facebook followers
  • 49 new Instagram followers

Rather than asking whether Google or Meta is the "better" advertising platform, consider what job each channel needs to perform.

Google can help capture active demand from people already searching.

Meta can help expand your reach, introduce your facility to new local audiences, and give potential customers additional opportunities to discover your business.

Together, the two platforms can help your facility reach families at different stages of the customer journey.

Connect Your PPC Strategy to Online Booking

Getting the right person to your website doesn't guarantee a booking. Once customers decide they're interested, they need an easy next step.

That's why the upgrade to PCS Online Booking was another important part of this customer's strategy.

When families are ready to plan a party, Online Booking gives them the ability to view availability, select a package and available add-ons, pay required deposits, and complete their reservation online.

That matters because your advertising doesn't operate independently from the experience that follows it.

Imagine spending money to reach a parent who's ready to book a birthday party. They click your ad, like what they see, and decide your facility is a good fit.

Then they discover they need to call during business hours just to find an available date. You've successfully generated demand, but you've also added another step before the sale.

A connected PPC strategy for family entertainment centers should consider the entire journey:

Advertisement → Website → Online Booking → Confirmed Reservation

Every stage should make it easier for customers to move forward.

Measure Business Results, Not Just Advertising Metrics

Clicks, impressions, reach, and click-through rates can tell you what's happening within an advertising campaign.

But FEC owners should also look at what happens after those interactions.

Are people calling?

Are they requesting directions?

Are they booking parties?

Are online reservations increasing?

How much revenue is associated with those bookings?

Those questions bring advertising performance closer to the metrics that matter to your business.

For this facility, the year-over-year comparison showed measurable growth after implementing the new PCS Online Booking experience and digital advertising strategy.

January–June 2025

  • 57 party bookings
  • $2,515 collected through online booking

January–June 2026

  • 71 party bookings
  • $6,965 collected through online booking

That represented a 24.6% increase in party bookings and a 176.9% increase in revenue collected through online booking year over year.

The Google and Meta campaigns represented a combined advertising investment of $5,500.29.

Across the campaigns, 56 confirmed party bookings represented an estimated $22,120 in party revenue, producing an estimated 4.0x return on ad spend (ROAS) based on those party bookings alone.

Advertising performance varies based on factors such as your market, competition, budget, targeting, pricing, offers, website, and campaign strategy. These results shouldn't be interpreted as a guarantee of similar performance.

They do, however, demonstrate why tracking results beyond clicks can give FEC operators a much more meaningful picture of advertising performance.

Look Beyond the Revenue You Can Directly Attribute

There's another important consideration when evaluating family entertainment center advertising: not every dollar influenced by an ad can necessarily be tied directly back to the original click.

That's particularly relevant for this facility because its advertising also promoted general admission.

Someone could discover the facility through an ad, visit with their family, purchase food or beverages, spend money in the arcade, return for another visit, or eventually book a birthday party.

Those behaviors have value, even when every transaction can't be directly attributed to the original advertising campaign.

This is why operators should consider both direct conversions and the broader customer journey when evaluating marketing performance.

Party bookings and tracked revenue provide important evidence, while requests for directions, phone calls, website visits, repeat business, and other customer actions can help provide additional context.
