5 Website Updates You Should Make in 2021

In this article, I share 5 simple website updates you should make in 2021.

How long has it been since you last updated your website?

First impressions are everything, especially when it comes to your business.

Studies have shown that over 70-80% of people will research a company on the web before making a purchase decision, usually by visiting their website.

5 Website Updates You Should Make in 2021

Our recent 2020 Online Booking Study revealed how many more customers are using their phones to check out facility websites and book parties as a result of COVID-19.

Following are five simple website updates to make this year if your goal is to continue to make great first impressions and engage new (and returning) customers.

1. Add Your Re-Opening Status & COVID-19 Protocols

Your customers want to visit you and more importantly, they want to know how they can do so safely.

It's important to see your website as a tool that allows you to communicate your current status and protocols to your customers.

Be sure to add a header or banner to your homepage that lists your re-opening status or, if you're open, your current hours.

Don't be afraid of getting too detailed! Include information about your cleaning and sanitization protocols, capacity restrictions, rules, and guidelines.

Your customers want to know that you offer a clean, safe, and friendly experience.

2. Update Your Party Packages & Pricing

Run a report on the parties you hosted at your family entertainment center in the past year. Ask yourself the following questions as you analyze the results:

  1. Is your party revenue meeting the goal you set out to achieve at the start of the previous year?
  2. What kind of feedback do you have from your customers? Do they feel you provide valuable party packages for the price you charge? If you're not sure, run a customer feedback survey. Your customers are your best source of information.
  3. What aspects of your party packages haven't been very popular? Could they be removed? Can you add something new?

Your success is dependent on what your customers think.

3. Update Your Pictures

When is the last time you updated the pictures on your website?

One of the easiest and most prominent website updates you can make is to periodically change your pictures, especially on your homepage.

Remember, the pictures you use should not just be of the attractions in your facility. They should showcase your customers enjoying themselves at your FEC.

(Note: To protect yourself legally, be sure to include a clause in your online waiver requesting permission to use photographs of customers in your facility for marketing purposes.)

You may also want to highlight your cleaning process by uploading pictures that show how your staff keeps the facility sanitized.

4. Update (Or Add) a Customer Testimonial Section

Happy customers are your best marketers.

Prioritize asking customers who you know have experienced a wonderful time at your family entertainment center to provide you with a quote that you can use to "show off!"

Add these testimonials to your website as proof of your commitment to positive, memorable customer experiences.

If you're still wondering why making this kind of website update is important, think for a second: when you're looking for a restaurant to go to in an unfamiliar area, or are trying to buy a particular item online, what would you look at to make your decision?

THE REVIEWS.

Customer testimonials are your FEC's reviews. The more positive, detailed, and current reviews you have, the greater your chances are for converting more website visitors into paying customers.

5. Add Links to Your Social Media

It may surprise you, but there are still many FEC websites without any social media links.

If you're one of them, please be sure to update this as soon as possible.

Customers might already be using hashtags of your facility on Instagram or Twitter, and that's a missed opportunity if you don't have an account that would allow you to tap into this community and convert more potential customers.

If you do have an account, it's a great thing to highlight on your website so that more prospective customers can view your pictures, and offerings, give you a follow, and this also allows you to stay top of mind. If they follow you, they'll likely see all of your updates, promos, and events, and if they haven't visited you already - they will jump back to your website and book a time.
